SEO vs Web Marketing

I've been reading a lot lately and found out the difference between SEO and Web Marketing. If a friend asked you what's the nature of your work, you simply reply with a smile "I'm an SEO."

Obviously, you already gave a puzzling answer. So, what it is exactly meant by that? You reply, "We're working on client websites and make them visible to the Search Engines like in Google." - Perfect answer. That is exactly what it meant! Frankly speaking, you only gave one of your main role whether you are a SEO analyst, expert or guru (as they brand themselves), the most important thing you do is ONLY TO RANK THE WEBSITE.

So, what is Web Marketing doing? and why all of a sudden this term alarmed me? When I read about the difference, I realized that I am not only a SEO but also a Web Marketing Analyst. There you go, I'll tell you more about it.

First, let's define what are the main task of a SEO Analyst or Specialist:
Research for keywords
Maintain a good content for the website
Get links in a most decent manner
Optimize for better results so that Google will love you

Then, here comes Web Marketing
While SEO brings traffic, you generate a revenue - and that is Web Marketing
Creating analysis about how make the site profitable
Performing decisions on website performance
Planning outside SEO box. Also considers paid and offline campaign promotions including Social Media.
Using several platforms to maximize internet advertising

If your website performs well in Search Results but generate no income, it is basically you are doing good in SEO but creating your website profitable in generating money means a lot to your clients. Therefore, instead of saying that you are a SEO...starts adapting on how you can be a Web Marketer.

Sounds FUN...
