Link Building Through Social Networking

One of the most important factors in determining a web site's success is its rankings in the search engines. And the biggest thing that affect page rankings is the number of links that go into them. Thus, SEO specialists try to look out for new ways to get more links as possible.

And one of these methods that is becoming popular with SEO's nowadays is using social networking sites. For those not yet familiar (or for those too old), a social networking site is basically a web site wherein people get to interact with each other online. It is different from what is considered to be its brother, the social bookmarking site, in the sense that people join networking sites for the sake of interaction while those going for bookmarking do so for resources.

So how does being on social networking sites get you more links? On the most basic level, since there are a lot of people in these sites, many will be able to see you and likely link to your own website. However, just having a profile page on one popular site won't really get you that much links. In order to really get the most out of these sites, you need to closely look into what they are offering.

As have been mentioned, social networking involves interaction; and to be really known here and get people visiting your own site, then you need to interact a lot. Your campaign in the social networking site begins with attracting your audience's attention. Thus, instead of simply putting in company information in your profile page, you can be more creative and design it to suit your target market. For instance, you can put in witty captions on your pages to attract attention. Also, you should always update your profile with new content to get people to come back. And never forget to include a link to your own site for them to go to.

And now, it's time to go to the actual interaction part. Keep in mind that every person that sends a friend request to your profile is a potential visitor to your site. Thus, just like any good host, you need to entertain them and their questions. Also, aside from letting people come in to your profile pagr, you also need to get out and visit theirs. This will establish your presence further and will likely encounrage them more to allow you to post a link on their own pages and sites. It would also be a good idea to joind and form groups to widen your network.

As you can see, there are a lot of benefits that you can get from using social networking. And if you do it the right way, you can expect a good amount of visitors to your home page.
